Help us House our Veterans in Need!
Bed night count as of December 20th is 57.25!

Over the past two years, with your support the United Veterans of Maine has purchased the 12 acre former Phil’s Florist property at 358 Washburn Street in Caribou, In year 1, the organization, with the many volunteers, including students from Loring Job Corps, renovated a 2500 square foot administrative building, creating offices and conference room along with a communications system. They also began construction on four duplex cottages. Each of three cottages feature two efficiency apartments, and one of the duplexes has been converted to a family suite. The units are fully furnished with private bath, stove, fridge, twin bed and have been very comfortable for our Veterans who have come to use them.

Veterans are housed at the Dahlgren-Skidgel Farm of Hope at no charge. Donations are accepted and those who are receiving VA benefits are asked to contribute what they can. Costs for housing are considerable and that is why we are launching our new $24-4-24 Hours’ campaign. Your donation of $24 will cover a Veteran’s 24 hours stay in one of our units. As of December 2018 we are forecasting to do 1,047 bed-nights. Now, as we enter the third year of operations we are asking once again for your help. Your gift to the United Veterans of Maine is Tax deductible as we are a non-profit organization. Please continue to support our efforts to end Veterans Homelessness here in Maine and right here in Aroostook County. We are so grateful for what you have already done to make this project possible. Now we are bringing Veterans in need a to a welcoming, respectful and honorable place.

We invite you to visit the Farm of Hope and tour our facilities. Again, thank you so much for your previous support and we hope you will join our $24-4-24 Hours’ Campaign to help us help those who have served this country with honor and integrity!
